Jim has over 20 years experience in technical and management experience with hands-on Development and Operations. His experience spans real-time embedded applications to Internet-based telecommunications. His successful track record includes development and deployment of scalable server networks, enterprise client/server distributed applications, and Inter/Intranet communications protocols.
Jim was recently founder of MobiWifi a self-funded provider of mobile and premises-based wireless Internet access. Prior to MobiWiFi, Jim was founder of eDial, the leading vendor of ASP/CPE-based conferencing and advanced telephony platform. At eDial he initially ran Engineering including server software development, QA and documentation. After subsequently moved to VP of Operations, his responsibilities included ASP operations, Sales Engineering, Customer Support and Production.
Prior to founding eDial Jim was a Senior Staff Architect at Intel Architecture Labs. Jim Coordinated multiple groups for technical alignment related to IP-based multimedia, guided Engineering and business partnerships related to Buddy lists, Multimedia Conferencing products, Directory technology and Management software. Jim led Intel's standards efforts within the H.323 standard and was a recognized international authority on initial versions of H.323. Jim founded and chaired the Packet Conferencing Group and the H.323 Implementers Group in the IMTC. He was editor of the H.235 Security standard in the ITU-T as well as the H.323 Implementers Guide.
Prior to Intel, Jim was with Banyan Systems in managing and hands-on roles within software engineering. As a principal engineer on StreetTalkä Directory he developed the first implementation of Vinesä Directory replication. Jim also designed and developed the next generation distributed Yellow Pages service.
Before Banyan Systems, Jim held various positions managing and engineering positions at Xylogics, Inc. and Ikier Graphics. Jim holds a BS in Chemistry from Tufts University and a MS in Computer Science from Northeastern University.
