WebMetrics 2006 Update – Top Trends from WR’s Survey on Web Conferencing Usage

The use of web conferencing has made the leap from leading edge technology to mainstream business tool in many organizations. This leap causes several shifts in user demands. To track the factors driving Web Conferencing users, WR has been conducting a series of in-depth, quarterly surveys involving a panel of up to 270 users and buyers since early 2004. This session covers selected highlights from 10 quarters of survey data, including feature and deployment model preferences, spending habits, brand perceptions, applications, ... and the relative importance of price.
Andy Nilssen, Senior Analyst & Partner, Wainhouse Research
Andy Nilssen has been a primary contributor to the Wainhouse Research portfolio of services, management consulting, training, and competitive analysis, since January 2000. Andy's primary focus is on audio/VoIP conferencing infrastructure, web conferencing, and IM/Presence technologies. He is a co-author of Wainhouse Research's annual three volume series Rich Media Conferencing, and the industry report Riding the Web Conferencing Tsunami, a thorough analysis of the web conferencing market including user requirements and vendor offerings. He also serves as a consultant to videoconferencing, web conferencing, and network infrastructure vendors, end users, government agencies, and venture capitalists. Andy has 25 years of experience in high-technology product marketing and market research. Prior to Wainhouse Research, he held Director-level positions in product marketing, new business development, and market research at PictureTel Corporation. Andy was also Vice President of Marketing at Visual Technology, a maker of IP-based network terminals, and Product Line Manager of entry SPARC workstations at Sun Microsystems. Andy has a B.S. in electrical engineering and MBA from the University of New Hampshire and holds two ease-of-use related patents.
