New Service Provider Models

Traditional carriers are being attacked by new service providers using a variety of technologies. Cable, WiMax and virtual solutions are all possibilties and these service providers explain their advantages and their concerns about competing with the ILEC.
Martin Kull, CTO, Com Hem
Over the course of his career, Martin has covered many aspects of broadband access - from university research on fiber optic transmission to business modelling of broadband services. Previous positions include Research Project Manager, Turnkey Access Solutions Manager and Head of Broadband Product Management, all at Ericsson.
Martin also contributed to one of the first commercial broadband deployments in 1999 as CTO of StjarnTV (later UPC Sweden). He was also co-founder and partner of Manage-IT, a consultant company focused on broadband business development projects.
As of 2003 he is CTO och Com Hem, Swedens largest cable operator and first triple play operator, connecting 1,4 million homes.
Dimitri Panasevich, Director, IPCB.net
Dimitri Panasevich is responsible for Business Development at IPClearingBoard, Inc. Since 2000, the company has routed more than a billion VoIP minutes worldwide; today it offers a variety of VoIP services based on its proprietary technology, including BuySellMinutes.com, HostedSwitch.com and BuyMin.com. Prior to co-founding the company, Mr. Panasevich worked in Investment Banking (Merrill Lynch) and Management Consulting (McKinsey); he has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
Andreas Voigt, Director, Operational Services, FOKUS.SatCom
Andreas Voigt is Director of Operational Services at Fraunhofer’s institute FOKUS.SatCom where he responsible for all level one terrestrial and satellite communication links for IP services as well as the commercial integration of FOKUS.SatCom’s research and development products and solutions.
Andreas started his career at EUTELSAT’s head quarters in Paris, France to finalize his studies of Electrical Engineering. In 1998, he joined the German National Research Institute for IT (GMD). In 2002, GMD was merged with Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. Since then, systems and products of various manufacturers in the field of SatCom, terrestrial links, VoIP services, AAA, QoS and M&C have been integrated in FOKUS.SatCom’s portfolio and successfully brought into commercial operations under his lead. Early 2005, he was elected Director of Operational Services to strengthen FOKUS.SatCom’s commercial success.
