The Open Source movement has duplicated the traditional vendor solutions in all areas of telecom from call control to network management. Has the model for deployment been changed as well, or is this a tool to make software hardware independent?

Jay Batson, Chairman & Managing Director, SIP Forum
Jay was previously co-founder of Pingtel, the first commercial product vendor to support the SIP protocol in 1997. Pingtel became the industry standard as a vendor of intelligent, Java-enabled SIP phones for enterprise installations, and later led the company in building SIP-based enterprise IP PBXs. Jay's background includes engineering on large-scale computing and IP networking at BBN, one of the key firms behind building the Internet. Jay was also a well-known networking industry analyst at Forrester Research. Jay has also held executive, business development and product management roles at Cayman Systems and ON Technology. He has a J.D. from the University of Denver.
Pat Moore, Business Development Manager, Data Connection
Pat Moore is Business Development Manager for Data Connection's Network Protocols Group. He has been with Data Connection for 18 years and has a wealth of experience spanning many protocols and customer situations. Mr. Moore began his career at Data Connection in software development and subsequently worked in a variety of roles. He has a degree from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Manchester.
Ken Osowski, VP, Marketing & Product Mgmt., Pactolus Communication Software
Kenneth Osowski, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management has been at Pactolus for over 4 years, joining during the company’s early development stage. Osowski started in the enhanced services market in 1993 at Boston Technology (acquired by Comverse), where in a senior product management role introduced the company’s carrier-focused messaging platforms, the CO ACCESS 500/600, Access NP, and AccessMAX Service Creation Environment. In a Director of Sales role, he sold to the ILECs, CLECs, and major independent telcos. Osowski holds a B.S. degree in Physics from Franklin & Marshall College and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Columbia University.
Bill Rich, Co-Founder, SIP Foundry
As president & chief executive officer of Pingtel, Bill Rich is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, profitability, and aggressive growth plans. Over the past 20 years, Bill has served provided executive guidance at several innovative companies including serving as CEO of Aravox Technologies, which provided session border controllers for service provider VoIP networks and president and CEO at VocalData, a leading provider of feature servers that enable service providers to deliver next-generation IP telephony services. Bill earned a BA in economics from the College of William and Mary.
