With SIP and SIMPLE the ability to share someones presense should be well known, but the problem is we can get a false reading from an alwayson device. This session looks at Presence and the various issues of a world of multiple devices per person and managing personal preferences.

David Gurle, Executive Vice President, Reuters
David Gurlé is currently Executive Vice President, Global Head of Collaboration Services at Reuters, where he leads a worldwide team responsible for the business and technical aspects of collaboration services including Reuters Messaging product development, deployment and service initiatives. Gurlé previously worked at Microsoft as Product Unit Manager and Director of Program Management, Real Time Communication where he was responsible for Greenwich, Microsoft's upcoming instant messaging solution and real-time communications platform. He also oversaw Exchange Instant Messaging, Windows Messenger, Exchange Conferencing Server, NetMeeting and TAPI. While at Microsoft, Gurlé led the product team that delivered the technology which is the foundation of Reuters Messaging service.
Pat Rudolph, Vice President Solutions Architecture, Enterprise Voice Solutions, 3Com Corporation
Pat Rudolph, VP of Solutions Architecture, Enterprise Voice Solutions for 3Com, oversees the definition and implementation of customized solutions for 3Coms enterprise voice customers using 3Com® Networked Telephony Solutions including the VCX V7000 IP Telephony Solution, an award-winning carrier-class Internet protocol (IP)-based platform. Since joining 3Com in 1995, Mr. Rudolph has served as director of network consultants for CommWorks Corporation and ATM/WAN specialist in the companys Global Design Center. Mr. Rudolph received his masters degree in business administration from Northern Illinois University.
Ed Simnett, Lead Product Manager, Microsoft
Ed Simnett plays a key role in developing the marketing strategies for Microsoft Office Live Communications Server, Microsoft Corps enterprise-grade instant-messaging (IM) solution and real-time communications platform that provides presence awareness within the Microsoft Office System, and desktop and line-of-business applications. As lead product manager for the Live Communications Group in the Real-Time Collaboration Business Unit, Simnett is responsible for defining how Live Communications Server is positioned for industry analysts, media and customers, and what the customer and industry requirements will be for the next generation of the product. He also is responsible for developing strategic industry partnerships that will foster a robust ecosystem of service providers and hardware and software vendors around the product.
Keith Weiner, CEO, DiamondWare
Keith Weiner founded DiamondWare in 1994. With a background in software development, and current active engineering involvement, he has proposed a ratified standard in the 3D Working Group (part of the Interactive Audio Special Interest Group). A passionate audiophile and music lover, Mr. Weiner has written on the topics of computer audio, software engineering, computer games, and telephony for magazines for books, magazines, and DiamondWare's own newspaper, Telephone Times. He is co-author of a number of audio-related patent applications.
