IAX2: The next SIP?

SIP in the last 12 months SIP has been taking it in the chin. New protocols such as SKYPE and IAX2 are solving the problems of reach. What are the implications for the future.



Guillaume Giraudon, Network Engineer, Independent Consultant

Guillaume Giraudon is an independent consultant. Having worked for Global Crossing in the past years, he was involved in a variety of projects in the IP and VoIP industry and was involved in the development of Global Crossings VoIP-based products such as VoIP-Termination. Suffering from the Extreme Open Source Computing Disorder, Guillaume has been involved with the Linux community since 1993 and has with the Asterisk community for a while.



Ravi Sakaria, President/Co-Founder, VoicePulse

Ravi Sakaria is a veteran technologist with over 15 years experience in the Information Technology field. Mark Spencer, President, Digium/Asterisk

Mark Spencer is President and founder of Digium, formerly Linux Support Services, Inc., a Huntsville, AL based company focused on the development and support of low-cost, innovative telecommunications hardware and open source software. Mark, originally from Auburn, AL, graduated in 1999 from Auburn University with a BS in Computer Engineering and founded his company in 2000. Mr. Spencer is the original author of GAIM, the widely popular, multi-protocol instant messanging program for Linux, BSD, and Windows. Mark is also responsible for Asterisk, the Open Source PBX for Linux, BSD, and MacOS.



Brad Templeton, Chairman, Electronic Frontier Foundation

Brad Templeton founded ClariNet Communications Corp (the world's first "dot-com.") He also created and publishes rec.humor.funny, the most widely read USENET newsgroup and its web site, www.netfunny.com. He is currently chairman of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), the leading cyberspace civil rights foundation.



Rajesh Tyagi, SVP, Product Mgmt. & Customer Engineering, sentitO Networks

Rajesh Tyagi serves as the Sr. VP of Product Management and Customer Engineering for sentitO Networks, a leading developer of carrier-class VoIP switching and service solutions. Tyagi has over 20 years of in-depth experience in the wireline, wireless, data, and optical networking fields and is currently responsible for product lifecycle management, product strategy, OEM partnerships and customer engineering for sentitO’s Open Network Xchange (ONX).
