Birds of a Feather: Implementing SIP - real life experiences
Hear from several SIP Forum member companies about their experiences implementing SIP networks and products - both things that work and areas requiring industry effort. This BoF will be very interactive and provide an excellent opportunity to ask the experts about your specific SIP implementation or any general SIP implementation questions you may have. Shane Cleckler, Manager of Systems Engineering, Ingate Systems Shane Cleckler joined Ingate Systems after a six-year tenure at WorldCom, where he rose through the telecommunications engineering ranks. At WorldCom, Cleckler spearheaded product evaluation and systems integration testing of SIP-capable firewalls for use in next-generation VoIP networks. Prior to WorldCom, Cleckler served as bench technician and quality assurance monitor at Universal Computer Systems, where he was responsible for system-to-component fault isolation testing and restoration. In his role at Ingate, Cleckler supports the company’s growing US customer base before and after purchase of Ingate’s award-winning SIP-enabling firewall products. He holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.
Andy Huckridge, Senior Product Marketing, Spirent Communications Andy Huckridge is Senior Product Marketing Manager for the Abacus Product Line at Spirent Communications, where he leads Spirent's strategy for the VoIP market. His responsibilities include business planning, market development, and product management. Andy has worked in the communications industry for 10 years including roles at Centile, Inc., and 8x8, Inc., where he was Director of Product Marketing, and has a broad background in defining and marketing products in the Semiconductor and IP Telephony space. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Surrey, England. Andy is active in the SIP Forum and Multi-Switching Forum, where he is Vice-Chairman of the Interoperability Working Group.
Jens Lundstrom, COO, Hotsip AB Mr. Jens Lundström is the co-founder and COO of Hotsip AB. Prior to this Mr. Lundström was managing the Multimedia Communication program at Ellemtel, an Ericsson and Telia jointly owned think tank based in Sweden. Prior to this Mr. Lundström worked as a consultant with American Management Systems in Fairfax, USA. Mr. Lundström has a Master degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Linköping Institute of Technology, Sweden, and he also holds ~10 approved patents in the field. Mr. Lundström has also been active as officer within the Swedish Army and also the Swedish Royal Air Force.
Ed Luff, Director , Product Marketing, Newport Networks Ed Luff is Director of Product Marketing at Newport Networks, with responsibility for the 1460 session controller product. Ed has over 12 years of telecom experience. Prior to joining Newport Networks, Ed was a product manager at Alcatel, responsible for developing network management strategy for the NGN business unit. Prior to working for Alcatel, at Newbridge Networks, Ed held management and development positions in engineering for ATM and Network Management products. John Philips, VP, Product Development, DSL.net John Philips is currently the Vice President of Product Development at DSL.net, a leading nationwide provider of broadband communications. Prior to DSL.net, John co-founded TalkingNets, one of the first companies to provide VoIP services and which was sold to DSL.net in 2003. Prior to founding TalkingNets, John was Vice President of business development at Telco Systems, a leading supplier of equipment used by CLECs, Internet service providers (ISPs), and long-distance carriers. Previously, John was a founder at Synaptyx Corporation, which developed equipment that allowed CLECs to deliver integrated voice and data services across emerging networks. Also, John spent nine years at Acterna and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Duke University. Larry Schessel, Sr. Manager, Product Management, Cisco Systems Larry Schessel is Chairman of the SIP Forum Marketing Working Group and Sr. Manager at Cisco Systems. Prior to working with the SIP Forum Larry was Chairman of the H.323 Forum and Vice President of the IMTC. Larry has over 20 years telephony experience with focus on Enterprise and Service Provider call control, VoIP and next generation communications networks. Alessandro Valenti, CTO, Sleipner SA I am currently the CTO at Sleipner SA. We builds advanced IP communication systems and software for carriers, service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers. | |||
