Anoop Gupta, Corporate VP, Real-Time Collaboration Bus. Unit, Microsoft

Anoop Gupta is responsible for Microsoft's real-time collaboration solutions for information workers, including enterprise instant messaging, PC-telephony scenarios and Web conferencing. Previously Gupta was technical adviser to Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates.

Before joining Microsoft in 1998, Gupta was an associate professor of computer science and electrical engineering at Stanford University. His research at Stanford spanned computer architecture, operating systems, programming languages, simulation and performance debugging tools, and parallel applications. Along with John Hennessy, he co-led the design and construction of the Stanford Directory Architecture for Shared Memory (DASH) multiprocessor, a research computer that explores scalable shared-memory architectures.
