Application Servers
Combining all these elements would do little more than complete a phone call if it was not for the value that is brought by these servers that enable the call controllers and gateways to mesh into a solution that supports new services. This panel looks at the way application servers interact and how they are utilized in the development of new applications.
Scott Hoffpauir, CTO, BroadSoft As Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of BroadSoft, Scott is responsible for guiding the technical vision and direction for the company and promoting product innovation. Prior to BroadSoft, Scott was Director of GSM Development at Celcore (DSC/Alcatel USA). In this role, Scott was responsible for product development on the GSM switching product, including system architecture, product requirements, and software development. Before Celcore, Scott was senior architect for Nortel's GSM and Inter-Exchange Carrier switching systems. Scott currently serves as co-chair of the Applications Working Group of the International Softswitch Consortium (ISC). He is widely published and holds 13 approved patents in the GSM and switching areas.
Don Jackson, VP of Advanced Telephony, Tellme Networks Don Jackson is Vice President of Advanced Telephony at Tellme Networks, where he works on enhancing the functionality and features of Tellme's connections to phone and data networks. His responsibilities include the SIP version of the Tellme platform, and the development of communication applications for carriers and service providers.

Alex Vishnev, CTO, Globalrock Networks Alex Vishnev has been involved with software development for over 20 years. Mr. Vishnev co-founded Interface Alternative (iFace.com) in 1992. Acting as Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Vishnev specialized in developing a high density, carrier-grade, open system distributed softswitch architecture based on cPCI platform using SUN Solaris Operating System and Natural Microsystems telephony equipment. Mr. Vishnev has been working in the fields of Object Based systems, Object Oriented Databases, Operations Support Systems. He has also spoken extensively on the subjects of SIP, VoiceXML, Service Mediation, Distributed Architecture and OSS integration. Mr. Vishnev holds a Bachelor of Science degree from NY University. While acting as CTO of Globalrock Networks, Mr. Vishnev manages software developers located in US, Canada, Phillipines and Russia.
Mark Whittier, VP Corporate Marketing, VocalData Mark Whittier is VocalData's Vice President of Corporate Marketing. Prior to VocalData, Mr. Whittier served in several marketing leadership positions with Nortel Networks across its product and service lines including enterprise applications, carrier products, broadband and optical products, wireless products, professional services, consulting and marketing services. He has held a wide range of management positions including strategic marketing, corporate and marketing communication, product marketing, documentation and training. Mr. Whittier has a history as an educator at the secondary, college and university levels, and holds B.S. degrees in Education and Chemistry and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin. | |||
