Tivo changes everything; Internet downloads change everything; professional quality cameras at consumer prices change everything. Bittorrent downloading may blow out every video business plan. Downloading or streaming, real time or loaded in advance delivered by cable companies, telcos, satellites or by Disney and other providers over the Internet. Nobody knows yet what all the changes will be, but we'll point you to where the answers will be coming from.
Jennie Bourne, Producer, Bourne Digital
Jennie Bourne co-author with Dave Burstein of "DSL a Wiley Tech Brief" is a journalist and editor of the FutureofTV.net newsletter. She produces video and teaches college courses on journalism, web design and video. She currently working on a documentary about Macintosh Designer Jef Raskin produced with input from the web community.
Tom Hammer, CTO & Vice President of Engineering, Akimbo
Passionate about developing compelling new products, Tom Hammer has spent his career crafting cutting-edge technologies into products that define new categories. While an engineer at Apple Computer, Mr. Hammer helped deliver such products as HyperCard, AppleScript, and Apple Events. He left Apple to become director of software tools at the 3DO company as it spun out of Electronic Arts to forge a place as a pioneer in multimedia and set-top boxes. From there he joined NetObjects as a senior director. As vice president of engineering and operations at BitSource, Mr. Hammer managed development and e-commerce operations. Most recently, he was senior vice president of product development at Chemdex (later Ventro), one of the first B2B marketplaces.
Brad Kayton, VP, Marketing & Business Development, PRISMIQ
Brad Kayton is the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for PRISMIQ, a California-based startup developing Networked Entertainment Gateways. Previously, Mr. Kayton was the CEO and co-founder of Paros Software. Prior to Paros Software, Mr. Kayton was Vice President of Marketing, Online Services, and co-founder of 2Wire. In the mid-90s, Mr. Kayton served as Director of Video Products for Polycom. In the early 90s, Mr. Kayton managed a $200M network management product line at Tivoli Systems and spent five years in video conferencing at VTEL. Mr. Kayton holds two graduate degrees from the University of Texas, an MBA and MA in communication technologies; and holds a BA from the University of Virginia.
