Cool Technologies
The following are cool technologies and net related resources
which currently are on my radar
screen.
- Cells In Frames - The Cells in
Frames project at Cornell University may revolutionize the way communication
networks are built. This leading edge technology allows transmission of cells
over diverse media, from optical fiber to spread spectrum radio and is not
bound by any physical medium. A very cool enabling technology.
- Freeloader - Watch out for
the latest beta of this software. 1996 has already shown some interesting
trends and technologies and this product has a lot of potencial. It lets
you take control of the web - checks all of your favoriate sites as often
as you like - but Freeloader tells you whenever a page has been updated.
There are some other intesting features which you may like as well.
- The PointCast Network -
The PointCast Network is a personalized news network which you are able
to control the content which you view. Free news, sports, weather - both
'on-line' as well as via a screen saver. The catch (isn't there always
a catch?)- the advertising...
- iWorld - from Mecklermedia.
Tristan and the gang has done a great job redesigning the site. A great place
to go to get a daily information about the net.
- The Palace - "The Palace is an
Internet-based multimedia chat architecture, kind of a cross between IRC
and hypercard - yet completely unique in many respects". Drop by and
check this out.
