Network Operations Center Manager

Description:

Manage a global network operations control center for a rapidly-growing worldwide voice and data communications network. Provide technical, operational and management guidance for a team of up to 20 network controllers. Those controllers are network technicians who will monitor the network performance and its component systems and initiate remedial actions, including rerouting, reconfiguring and restoring network equipment. They will review network performance initiate remedial repair work and reconfigurations. The controllers will also act on customer trouble reports and identify network problems from direct observation. The NOC manager will plan work assignments, coordinate network monitoring coverage, schedule network expansions changes and upgrades. Additional responsibilities will include coordinating the callout of second-level technical support engineers.

Qualifications:

iBasis operations is an intense operational environment with a wide variety of technical challenges, customer service and project coordination responsibilities. The NOC manager must be able to communicate technical concepts and define projects and maintenance efforts in written as well as verbal presentation format. They must be able to coordinate a large number of activities and assignments. In addition, they should be familiar with TCP/IP and with data communication systems and network design concepts. Networking experience should include voice communications systems such as T-1/E-1, digital switching, trunk groups, call recording systems and circuit switches. In addition, wide area data communication experience is required, including routers, gateways, Internet, international interconnection. Knowledge of HP OpenView or comparable SNMP-based network management system is desirable. Direct department management experience essential. BSEE or BSCS and ten years' operational experience, including management of a 7 x 24 hour operating organization. Network management experience preferred. Past involvement with technically-sophisticated international and domestic customers is valuable.
