And as “Missioners” we’re also there to share the good news that VoIP has spread far and wide and is now a worldwide, multi-billion dollar industry. Members of the worldwide VoIP Industry are invited to join us for our Israel VoIP Summit, June 14th and 15th, 2005.

Registration is complimentary for the people joining us from outside of Israel.

As a “VoIP Missioner” you’ll have access to our invitation-only reception in Jerusalem City Hall on the night of June 14th. There, we’ll present our VON Visionary Awards to the trailblazers responsible for the creation of the VoIP Industry in Israel. We expect this will be a great business networking opportunity and a chance to catch up with some of the industry’s long-time friends.

So who are the VON Visionaries? And what did they do?

• The first is VocalTec and its contribution of the IPhone. Back in 1992, VocalTec was a sound card vendor when they launched VocalChat, a Local Area Network, PBX extension type solution. From there they branched out into an Internet solution that was supported with IRC chat solutions. This product was the base that gave birth to the first iteration of Free World Dialup.
• The second is the Haifa IBM team that instigated a similar strategy based on their efforts to provide solutions for LAN-based systems that migrated to an Internet Solution.

While VocalTec and IBM still enjoy the presence of many of their original team members, some are now benefiting the industry in companies such as Alcatel, Broadsoft, Juniper, Microsoft, Reuters, and Teleglobe.

The VoIP industry owes much to these VON Visionaries. We celebrate their efforts and applaud their accomplishments!

On June 15th, members of the VoIP Mission to Israel are also invited to attend our first full-day Israel VoIP Summit, produced by pulver.com VON Events Europe. The Summit features speakers and presentations focusing on

• new and emerging VoIP technologies
• regulatory, financial, and market issues.
