Peering with SIP

The interconnection of SIP networks can be accomplished without regard to specific routes. Alternatively, Carriers can drive traffic to specific points of interconnection. This panel discusses the issues of managing handoffs between carriers and the advantages of acting as peering partners.
Mahal Mohan, Director of Product Management, Clarus Systems
Dr. Mahal Mohan is director of Product Management at Clarus Systems, a software start up pioneering the management of enterprise IP telephony systems from the end user perspective. Prior to that, Dr. Mohan was director of product management at Digital Fountain, a software startup focused on enterprise digital content distribution.
Prior to Digital Fountain, Dr. Mohan held various technical, marketing and management positions at AT&T, including division manager of Internet Platform architecture at AT&T Labs. He has a Ph. D in physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, New York.
Kaushik Patel, Director of Marketing, Technology Div., MediaRing
Mr. Kaushik Patel brings extensive and diverse product marketing, product management and technical marketing experience to MediaRing. At MediaRing, Kaushik is responsible for global marketing and product marketing activities for the VoizBridge product line.
Prior to joining MediaRing, Kaushik was at Vpacket Communications, Inc., supporting the Vpacket 6100 series access router and security appliances targeted to enterprise markets Kaushik has also held product and marketing management positions at Oki Network Technologies (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oki America Inc.,) and Olivetti.
Kaushik holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from MS University in Baroda, India.
Ron Schwartz, Director Marketing, Newport Networks
Ron Schwartz is a Marketing Director at Newport Networks, responsible for the introduction of the 1460 session controller product to North American service providers. Ron has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years, working on VoIP, SS7, AIN, ISDN, LNP and other services in a variety of strategic and technical leadership roles. He has worked for Nortel Networks, Mitel Corporation, Bridgewater Systems and other companies. Mr. Schwartz has an M. Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba and started his career as a software designer.
