ENUM

The deployment of a Top Level Domain [TLD] solution for ENUM differs from using the ENUM specification to reconcile numbers to addresses. This session investigates the current deployment strategy for the authority of ENUM, as well as the practical implementations by various organizations that provide service today.



Michael Haberler, Chairman, Internet Foundation Austria

Michael Haberler is currently chairman of Internet Foundation Austria, the registry for .at domain names. He holds degrees in communications and electronics, and business administration, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University.

He established and led the first commercial ISP in Austria in 1991 to a size of 90 people, helped consolidate european ISP's into Eunet International Ltd, and was a instrumental in the sale of Eunet to Qwest Communications. He also co-founded the Austrian ISP Association, Internet Foundation Austria, the nic.at registry, the enum.at ENUM registry, and is on the board of several hi-tech companies, and in the investment committee of a venture capital firm.



Tom Kershaw, Vice President, VoIP Services, VeriSign, Inc.

Mr. Kershaw is responsible for a suite of new service offerings fornext-generation networks worldwide.

Tom joined VeriSign with twelve years experience in product design for VoIP, Intelligent Network systems and enhanced services. Prior to VeriSign, Tom was CTO at SS8 Networks, where he was responsible for overall engineering design for voice messaging, VoIP, and Lawful Intercept products. Prior to SS8 Networks, Tom was Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Clarent Corp.

Tom holds a B.A. in Economics/Political Science from New York University, an M.A. in Latin American Economics from the University of London and a DIP in Economics from the London School of Economics.



Doug Ranalli, Founder, Chief Strategy Ofiicer, NetNumber, Inc.

Douglas J. Ranalli is the Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of NetNumber, Inc. Mr. Ranalli is a seasoned leader and entrepreneur with experience as founder of three high-growth start-ups. Mr. Ranalli is the holder of multiple communications related patents and is the subject of a case study developed by the Harvard Business School entitled "Fax International Japan" which is utilized by a variety of MBA programs around the world. Mr. Ranalli holds degrees in Industrial Engineering (BS) from Cornell University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.



Richard Shockey, Sr, Manager, Strategic Technologies, NeuStar

Richard Shockey is Senior Manager -Strategic Technology Initiatives for NeuStar, Inc. based in Washington DC.

Mr. Shockey is an active participant in the Internet Engineering Task Force and a founder and Co Chair of its ENUM Work Group as well as actively participating in a variety of other IETF Working groups. Mr. Shockey has been invited by the Dutch, Italian, British and Japanese governments to lecture on ENUM technology and its implications for consumers and carriers alike.

Mr. Shockey is also the author of numerous articles on Internet Telephony Technologies related to ENUM, SIP, Voice over IP and Internet Fax.
