SIP and 3GPP

3GPP utilizes SIP to support new network services, but is this the only way SIP will be applied? Not by a long shot. This panel explains the architecture of 3G and exemplifies the migration path for future wireless networks using SIP.



Sanjeev Chawla, CTO, BayPackets

Chawla has more than 15 years of experience in senior management positions within the global IT and telecommunication industries. His extensive experience includes managing the development of software products and executing projects in the area of mobile computing, telecommunications and network management. Chawla participated in the successful launch and growth of start-up River Run Software Group, a company in the wireless communication and mobile computing market. In addition, he was one of the key architects and development managers who developed SWIFT's telecommunication network, the world's largest financial network.



Ravindra Kabre, Product Manager, Sonus Networks

As product manager for Sonus Networks, Ravindra Kabre is responsible for the development of Sonus’ voice over IP (VoIP) products for wireless operators. Mr. Kabre brings to Sonus more than 15 years experience in the telecommunications industry, holding technical positions with both service providers and equipment providers. Prior to joining Sonus in 2001, Mr. Kabre was a pre-sales technical consultant with Lucent Technologies in Singapore, supporting service provider accounts such as Telecom New Zealand, Reliance, Telstra Saturn. Before Lucent, Mr. Kabre spent 5 years at Motorola Electronics, Singapore as a staff engineer, where he developed OSS and Network Management solutions, as well as IN Services.



Amir Zmora, Director, Product Marketing, RADVISION

Amir Zmora is Director of Product Marketing for the RADVISION Technology Business Unit specifically focusing on RADVISION SIP related product family. In his current role, Zmora is responsible for both product definition and marketing activities. As part of his role Zmora takes part in SIPit events and IETF meetings. Additionally he is a known speaker at different VoIP events such as VON and SIP conferences and publishes articles in well known magazines such as EE Times ComDesign.

Previously, Zmora was leading the product line of H.323, 3G-324M and Gatekeeper Toolkits where his responsibility included both the R&D and QA for RADVISION’s entire H.323 product line.
