The ongoing trials of IMS are about to become market offerings. What are the implications for new services? What applications are going to be offered?
Amir Atai, Lead Scientist, Lucent Technologies Dr. Atai is the Lead Scientist in Lucent Convergence Solutions. Prior Dr. Atai was Telica's Lead Scientist performing research related to the convergence of broadband and the PSTN. Before Telica, he was the Chief Scientist & Executive Director of Network Performance at Telcordia consulting on network planning/performance for new technologies. He has been at the forefront of developing generic requirements for SS7, AIN, IO architecture, DSL, and VoIP. He served as ITESF chairman, published numerous white papers/articles on the impact of Internet traffic on the PSTN and has proposed packet based architectural solutions. He received a BSEE and MSEE from the University of Florida and a Ph. D. in EE from Rutgers University. Doug Tait, Director Business Development, BEA Setting the telecommunications strategy for BEA and industry, Mr Tait Founded the JAINTM initiative defining Java™ technology for communications. He is responsible for the development and marketing of Java specifications and products into the telecommunications industry. He organized international standards, community, and user group meetings for creating standards and driving the communications market toward standard based interfaces, platforms, and protocols. At BEA, Mr Tait is driving Java platforms into Telecommunications with the Weblogic Communications Platform and he Weblogic SIP Server.
